Homework Work assigned and not completed during the day is to be taken home and brought back the next day completed. It is due at class time. Students should spend approximately 1/2 hour nightly working on homework. Assignments will be lighter on weekends and holidays. Papers are checked daily and returned to the student most Fridays to be taken home. Work not turned in or completed on time will be given a “C” grade. Standing Nightly Homework Assignments: PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: I will record daily assignments on the daily assignment sheet and give each child their copy to take home. The student is to mark off completed work and to complete any unfinished assignments at home. We ask the parents to check this sheet daily and make sure the work is completed for the following day and your child is ready for all their classes. Notes to parents are also written on the assignment sheet or attached to it. I will post the assignment sheet daily on InformationNOW. Late Work Late work is the biggest headache to the student, parents and teacher. Students will lose privileges, playtime, and might be held after school if the problem persists. Late work lowers grades to C’s. Grading All work is based on a point system. The total points of a subject make up the grade and is broken down as follows: 100% – 90% A Grades are issued mid-term and at the end of the quarter. At the end of the quarter, I will adjust grades that are 2% from the next highest grade. 88% is a “B”, but will be adjusted to an “A”. I do this to compensate for errors in checking and posting. When a student is absent, one day is given for each day absent to make up the work. Usually a student’s grade falls because of missing or late work. A daily check of the assignment sheet will avoid late or missing work. The music and PE departments give their own grades to our students at the end of each quarter. Music uses the A-F system and PE uses the system of “P or F” grading (pass or fail). An attendance grade is given at the end of the quarter by the school registrar. Please look in the school bulletin for our attendance policy. Being late to school on a regular basis is not acceptable and will effect the student’s grades. When a student comes to school late on a regular basis, they miss the beginning of each day, which includes morning worship, daily orientation and announcements, and part of their Bible class. Students who arrive at school after 8:00 AM will need to go directly to the school office for a pass to enter the classroom. I will give our students a grade for responsibility. This grade is based on the discipline system of our room. Added to it will be behavior at recess and PE class. If there is a habitual late schoolwork points, the grade will also be affected. Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs checks most of our papers. If you find an error, please make a note and return the paper for adjustment. InformationNOW The school office will give you your child’s online grade code. Midterm and quarterly grades are posted online. Daily Scores: Daily scores and grades are usually posted every afternoon on InformationNOW. The three major grade dates are posted on the school calendar by the office in InformationNOW. |
