In God's Eyes‎ > ‎

Mr. Gibbs' Educational Philosophy

  • I believe that each child in my classroom this year has been placed here by the Lord for a purpose. Each child is special and has talents and abilities that need to be developed to fulfill the Lord’s purpose for their lives. Each child can learn, and as adults, we have no idea what great things the students in this room will accomplish as adults to make our world a better place.
  • We are all waiting to meet our lifetime best friend and to spend eternity thanking Him for what He has done for us.
  • Mother and Father are the first teachers as the home is the first school room for each child. Basic training in discipline and cooperation is formed in this first school. Paralleling the home is the child’s experience at Sabbath/Sunday School and the involvement with a local church. At the appropriate time the child will begin his formal academic journey in a school.
  • The school uses the home training as the foundation and continues to drive the child for a life of useful service. This is why it is extremely important that the parents and teacher cooperate and work together so the abilities of the student will be fully realized.
  • Each student needs to attend college for at least four years to be fully trained for a lifetime of service.
  • Each child has a key that will turn them on to successful learning and by using different approaches and methods that key can be found. A current approach is to to use Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences.

word smart – the capacity to use words effectively – writing, speaking, persuading, remembering information, explaining.

logic smart – the ability to use numbers effectively – reasoning, recognizing and solving problems, using logical patterns to categorize, infer, make generalizations and test hypotheses.

music smart – the capacity to perceive, express, transform or discern musical forms.

body smart – expertise in using one’s body to express ideas and feelings, as in the fine motor ability of a sculptor or the flexibility and grace of a dancer.

picture smart – the capacity to perceive the visual world accurately, to transform and recreate visual perceptions.

self smart – the capacity for self-knowledge, to detect and discern among one’s own feelings, and the ability to use that knowledge for personal understanding.

people smart – the ability to notice and make distinctions among other individuals, being attuned to their moods, temperaments and intentions.
Plan now for a four-year college education for your child. The key to success in America is education.

You know your child best. I need your ideas and suggestions, and as we work together with the Lord, your child’s education will be a success.
